In this project, I continued a given texture and turned it into a three-dimensional model. Later, a friend of mine accidentally damaged my model, and I decided to take it back, reinforce it, and make it reusable — and it even became stronger than before. This process reminded me of how, in nature, existing surfaces or structures on earth are devastated or transformed by natural disasters, and how they then renew themselves. They turn this trauma into knowledge and experience, using it to anchor themselves more firmly to the ground, either by their own resilience or through the interventions of architects like us.
Especially since I used tracing paper (aydinger), when my friend crumpled and tore my model, it made things much harder — which emphasized to me how important material selection is when designing a space. Even so, by reinforcing my model with balls made of cotton and tights, I managed to rebuild it into a sturdier, reusable form. This became a metaphor for my ‘devastated earth’ that found a way to be reborn, stronger than before.

Bu projede, bana hazır verilen bir dokuyu devam ettirerek onu üç boyutlu bir maket hâline getirdim. Ancak yaptığım maket, bir arkadaşım tarafından bozuldu. Bunun üzerine, bozulan maketimi yeniden ele alıp güçlendirmeye ve tekrar kullanılabilir hâle getirmeye karar verdim. Sonuçta, önceki hâlinden bile daha sağlam bir yapı ortaya çıktı.
Bu süreç, bana yeryüzündeki mevcut yapıların veya doğal örtülerin, doğal afetlerle bozguna uğradıktan sonra kendilerini nasıl yenilediklerini hatırlattı. Yaşanan travmayı bir deneyim ve bilgiye dönüştürüp, tekrar yeryüzüne daha sağlam bir şekilde tutunmalarını; ya kendi kendilerini ya da biz mimarlar tarafından güçlendirilerek hayata döndürülmelerini düşündürdü.
Özellikle kullandığım aydınger kağıdı, maketimin ilk hâlinde, arkadaşımın maketi buruşturup yırtmasıyla işimi oldukça zorlaştırdı. Bu da bana, bir mekan ya da yapı tasarlarken seçilen malzemenin ne kadar önemli olduğunu bir kez daha gösterdi. Buna rağmen, aydıngeri pamuk ve kilotlu çorapla yaptığım toplarla destekleyerek maketimi yeniden daha sağlam ve kullanılabilir bir hâle getirmeyi başardım. Böylece benim ‘bozguna uğrayan’ yeryüzüm, yeniden doğmuş ve güçlenmiş oldu.
